You will take clients from trial balance through to a completed set of annual financial statements, working across companies, close corporations, trusts, sole proprietors and non-profit organisations. Most of your week will be compilation work
You will also perform independent reviews on selected clients, and assist our Senior Clerks on audit engagements when the deadline calendar calls for it. You will report to the Audit and Tax Manager
This is a new position rather than a replacement, created because the practice is growing
Duties & Responsibilities
Compile annual financial statements in accordance with the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard and ISRS 4410 (Revised)
Take the file from trial balance through to completed statements, with lead and supporting schedules properly cross referenced
Prepare year end journals, the current tax computation and the deferred tax calculation and note
Reconcile and support every balance sheet line, and clear queries with the client directly
Apply disclosure correctly for related parties, directors’ emoluments, going concern, leases and financial instruments
Perform and document independent review engagements under ISRE 2400 (Revised)
Assist the Senior Clerks on audit engagements during peak periods
Run your own client relationships day to day, and manage your time and job budgets
Desired Experience & Qualification
At least two years in an accounting or auditing practice, working across a range of clients
Proven experience compiling annual financial statements, not processing to trial balance only
The ability to perform an independent review under ISRE 2400 (Revised)
A BCom in Accounting or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 6 or higher. A completed SAIPA or SAICA training contract counts in your favour, and we can take on a candidate partway through a SAIPA training contract
Working knowledge of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard, applied in practice
Confidence preparing a current and deferred tax computation
Solid Excel, and the discipline to build a schedule someone else can follow
Own reliable transport. This is an office based position
South African citizenship, permanent residence or a valid work permit
