The Warehouse Pharmacist Assistant supports pharmaceutical supply chains by ensuring accurate receiving, safe storage, and distribution of medicines. They process stock, maintain strict inventory logs, and ensure that warehouses comply with the standards as outlined by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). This role is also responsible for ensuring that inventory management is practiced in accordance with the FEFO principles.
The incumbent must comply with Health & Safety regulations in line with the Health & Safety Act and ensure that company equipment and property are used responsibly. The Warehouse Pharmacist Assistant must also follow GWP and SOPs at all times and is required to work shifts based on business and warehouse operational needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Ensure and maintain regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with Good Warehouse Practices (GWP), FSCC 22000 Food Safety Regulations and all safety policies,
- Ensure cleanliness, proper dress code and PPE compliance, and good housekeeping standards at all times.
- Report any safety hazards of the equipment and facilities to the Warehouse Supervisor and / or Health and Safety Officer.
- Report any equipment related incident in which a staff member as injured to the Warehouse Supervisor and / or Health and Safety Officer.
- Adhere to proper dress code and PPE compliance at all times.
2. Perform Day-to-Day Activities
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming medical and pharmaceutical stock accurately, ensuring batch numbers and expiry dates are meticulously recorded.
- Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity.
- Pick, pack and check / verify pharmaceutical orders to be released before dispatching.
- Report any inventory variances as and when encountered.
- Conduct regular cycle counts, manage stock rotations (FEFO), and ensure the warehouse meets SAPC regulations and safety standards.
- Ensure that all inventory is stored in a safe and GWP / Pharma manner.
- Perform Warehouse Quality Checks.
- Assist with Customer Complaints.
- Assist with daily housekeeping of the warehouse.
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of Pharmaceutical products.
- Manage controlled scheduled medicines according to legal requirements.
- Prepare and assist with quarterly regulatory inspections and audits.
3. Participate in People & Culture matters in collaboration with Logistics Management:

Desired Experience & Qualification
Please note: This is a shift position, and the candidate must be willing to work night shifts as well.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Good computer literacy
- Knowledge of cGxP regulations.
- Qualified Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic)
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3 Years’ relevant experience as Warehouse Pharmacist Assistant
- 3 Years’ experience in managing inventory control
- 3 Years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical industry
- Experience working WMS Software
