A Storeman

The Storeman is responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, handling, issuing, and recording of raw materials, packaging materials, finished products, and other stock within the companys warehouse and stores. The Storeman must ensure that all stock is handled safely and hygienically and that warehouse activities comply with company procedures, food safety standards, health and safety requirements, and stock-control processes

Key Responsibilities Receiving and Checking Stock

• Receive deliveries of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, cleaning materials, and other goods. • Check quantities, product descriptions, batch numbers, expiry dates, and delivery documentation against purchase orders or delivery notes. • Inspect incoming stock for damage, contamination, incorrect labeling, or other quality concerns. • Report discrepancies, damaged goods, or non-conforming materials to the relevant supervisor. • Ensure that all received stock is correctly recorded and stored. Stock Storage and Control

• Store products and materials in the correct designated locations. • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure stock movements are recorded promptly. • Apply FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) principles where applicable. • Monitor expiry dates and report stock approaching expiry. • Conduct regular stock counts and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual stock takes. • Investigate and report stock variances. • Keep storage areas clean, organised, secure, and free from unnecessary clutter. Food Safety and Hygiene

• Follow all company food safety, hygiene, HACCP, GMP, and allergen-control procedures. • Ensure raw materials, packaging, and other products are stored in a manner that prevents contamination. • Maintain appropriate temperature and storage conditions where required. • Immediately report spills, pest activity, damaged packaging, contamination risks, or food safety concerns. • Follow personal hygiene and protective clothing requirements when working in production or food-handling areas. Issuing and Distribution

• Pick and issue raw materials and packaging materials to the production department according to authorised requests or production schedules. • Ensure the correct product, batch, quantity, and specification are issued. • Record all stock issued accurately. • Return unused materials to the appropriate storage location and update stock records. • Assist with the movement of finished products from production to the finished-goods warehouse.
