A Buyer

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day buying and procurement of merchandise. • Ensure the correct product range and sufficient stock are available to meet customer demand. • Monitor sales, stock levels, margins, rate of sale and buying budgets. • Manage purchase orders, deliveries, returns, claims and supplier contributions. • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. • Negotiate promotions, pricing and supplier activities to drive sales. • Monitor competitor pricing and market trends and identify opportunities for growth. • Coordinate promotional activities and ensure effective merchandising and execution on the sales floor. • Analyse sales and stock reports and take corrective action where required. • Assist with achieving sales, gross profit, stockholding and shrinkage targets. • Work closely with management and operational teams to improve store performance. • Maintain a strong understanding of customer needs and local market trends. • Assist with stock takes, loss control and general store operations when required. Minimum Requirements:

• 3+ years' experience in a Buyer or Senior Buyer role within retail or wholesale industry.
• Strong knowledge of FMCG buying, stock management, margins and supplier negotiations.
• Commercially minded with a strong understanding of sales and customer demand.
• Strong analytical, organisational and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship building abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume retail environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with retail buying/ERP systems will be advantageous.
