VACANCY: BIOSTATISTICIAN

Location: Braamfontein Industry: Occupational Health / Public Health

About the Role

A leading organisation in the occupational health and public health sector is seeking an experienced Biostatistician to provide biostatistical expertise, research, training and teaching support across health, research and workplace health programmes.

The successful candidate will contribute to research, statistical analysis, policy support, scientific publications and capacity development, while working with government, private-sector and research partners.

Key Responsibilities

Provide biostatistical support for the development of workplace health policies, systems and programmes.

Conduct biostatistical analyses and provide statistical support across the organisation.

Participate in the planning and implementation of occupational health research programmes relating to occupational diseases and injuries.

Review, advise on and develop statistical analysis plans for grant applications, research protocols, publications and reports.

Coordinate and participate in training programmes for health professionals and students.

Contribute to biostatistics and epidemiology teaching and lectures.

Maintain continuous professional development in biostatistics, epidemiology and public health.

Engage with national and international partners on programmes of mutual interest.

Undertake research in public and occupational health and contribute to the broader scientific evidence base.

Provide technical advice on epidemiological and biostatistical matters to practitioners, employers and other stakeholders.

Prepare scientific reports and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.

Perform other reasonable duties as required by management.

Minimum Requirements

MSc in Epidemiology or Biostatistics .

PhD in Epidemiology or Biostatistics would be advantageous.

3–5 years' post-Master's experience in Biostatistics.

At least 3 years' research and data-analysis experience .

A publication record of at least 5 publications .

Strong knowledge of Biostatistics and Epidemiology.

Proficiency in statistical software, preferably SAS, STATA or R .

Advanced Excel skills.

Knowledge of database management and data analysis.
